How InfluenceLayer decides when to scan, what to prioritize, and how to keep your credit spend efficient without missing competitor moves.
Daily Scans
Every day, the scheduler checks your high-priority prompts for competitor movement. These are the signals that change fast and cost you citations if you miss them.
Competitor position changes — detects when a rival jumps into a top-3 AI answer you previously held.
New competitor mentions — flags the first time a new brand appears in answers for your tracked prompts.
Citation losses — alerts you the moment your content drops out of an AI answer it was previously cited in.
High-priority prompts only — daily scans focus on prompts you mark as critical, so you never waste credits on low-signal queries.
Daily scans catch competitor moves within 24 hours. Without them, a rival can displace you for a week before you notice.
Weekly Deep Scans
Once a week, the system runs a full scan across all active prompts — including medium-priority ones — to surface content gaps and structural drift that daily scans don't cover.
Content gap detection — compares your entity coverage against competitors across every tracked cluster.
Cluster-level scoring — recalculates your InfluenceLayer Index for each topic cluster, not just individual prompts.
Trend line updates — feeds the weekly data point into your dashboard trend charts so you can see momentum.
Weekly deep scans are where Content Gap Intelligence gets its data. Skipping them means your gap report goes stale.
Auto-Pause for Low-Signal Prompts
Not every prompt is worth scanning forever. The scheduler automatically pauses prompts that return no useful signal for several consecutive runs, freeing credits for prompts that matter.
Zero-signal streak — if a prompt returns no brand mention, no competitor mention, and no citation for 3+ consecutive runs, it’s auto-paused.
Manual override — you can always reactivate an auto-paused prompt from the Prompts tab.
Credit savings — auto-pause typically reclaims 15–25% of monthly credit spend on mature accounts.
How to Configure
Scheduling is automatic out of the box, but you can tune it from the Jobs tab in your dashboard.
Set prompt priority — mark prompts as high, medium, or low to control scan frequency.
Adjust engines — choose which AI engines (Perplexity, Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude) each prompt runs against.
Pause/resume manually — override auto-pause for any prompt at any time.
View schedule — the Jobs tab shows next-run times and last-run results for every prompt.
Start with the defaults. Most teams only customize scheduling after 2–3 weeks of data, once they see which clusters move fastest.
